Dog Grooming Lift
The dog lift we made makes it easy to trim Betty’s nails and the fur on her legs, paws, face, etc. Not sure why, but she doesn’t mind it at all.
What you need
A 3 to 4 foot long 2x4
Lag bolts and washers
And here's how to do it
Test the grooming hammock on your dog. Betty is totally calm in the hammock, but you need to make sure your dog is as well.
Decide where to put your dog lift. Ours is in the garage between the two cars.
Attach the hoist system to the 2x4 using the screws that come with the hoist.
Mount the 2x4 on the ceiling with lag bolts and washers. Make sure the lag bolts screw into studs.
Bend the hooks a bit to hold the grooming hammock more securely.
With the right tools, it probably takes about two hours from start to finish.
To trim Betty’s nails, we use a Dremel Dog Nail Grinder. It takes a bit longer than a nail clipper, but there’s much less risk of cutting them too short and hitting the vein and nerve.
